The short version
ArmourGuard gutter leaf protection is a sealed stainless steel micro mesh system Everest installs on gutters throughout Edina, MN to block leaves, pine needles, and debris while water drains through freely. For homes prone to ice dams, Everest also offers ArmourGuard Ice, a heated version of the same mesh that keeps meltwater moving instead of refreezing at the roof edge. Both install on existing gutters, and estimates are free.
ArmourGuard Leaf Protection
As beautiful as fall may be, by the end of the season your gutters will be full of leaves. You don’t even notice, and winter shows up before most people get around to cleaning them out.
To prevent this, Everest installs ArmourGuard gutter leaf protection on homes throughout Edina. It’s a completely sealed micro mesh system that has no holes, slots, or seams. This ensures that water is the only thing that gets into the gutter, and you won’t have to worry about the leaves every fall.
A packed gutter can’t drain. Clogged gutters don’t cause ice dams on their own, but a trough full of frozen leaves holds ice right at the roof edge and leaves meltwater nowhere to go. That’s how water ends up backing up under the shingles and showing as a stain on a bedroom ceiling in February.
Gutter leaf protection cuts that off at the source. ArmourGuard uses surgical-grade 316L stainless steel micro mesh, so it won’t rust and organic material won’t grow on it or stick to it. The frame is 1/16″ extruded aluminum, anodized so it sits safely against copper or steel gutters without a dissimilar metal reaction. It installs at the same pitch as your roof, so debris slides off instead of piling up on top.
It’s the right choice if you have mature trees, a steep or awkward roofline, a two-story home, or you’re simply done putting a ladder up twice a year. On a heavily wooded lot, gutter leaf protection will pay for itself in avoided cleanings faster than people expect.
ArmourGuard Ice Prevention
Some homeowners, though, don’t have trees around their homes but still get ice dams on their gutters. We’ve got that covered as well! Everest can also install ArmourGuard Ice protection for your gutters.
ArmourGuard Ice is the same stainless steel mesh filter that stops leaves, pine needles, dirt, and debris, with heat built into the support frame. Safe, low heat radiates through the anodized aluminum frame and creates a warm micro-climate inside the gutter. Meltwater stays liquid and keeps moving instead of freezing at the roof edge. Icicles never get started. This guard installs on your existing gutters, so you don’t need a new gutter system to use it.
Here’s the chain it interrupts. Snow settles on the roof. Warm air from the attic heats the roof deck from below, and the snow above it melts. That water runs down to the eave and refreezes, causing a ridge.
That ridge is the damage. An ice dam works as a barrier, so water can’t drain off the roof. It pools behind the dam and works its way under the shingles, where it doesn’t belong. From there it damages shingles and siding and shows up inside the house as a leak. Over a few seasons, the same moisture causes rot and mold growth and weakens the structural integrity of the roof. The ice is heavy. If it’s not dealt with, it can bend hangers, pull the gutter loose, or collapse it outright.
You probably already know if this is your house. Older Edina homes with finished attics, knee walls, or original insulation tend to see it worst, and so do north-facing roof sections that stay shaded all winter.
Which one is right for your house?
If the trees around you are your problem, you should install ArmourGuard Leaf Protection. This will save you from having to clean your gutters again and again.
ArmourGuard Ice is your best option if you’ve dealt with ice dams, icicles, attic moisture, or interior stains, or if you have a shaded roof section that never gets sun from December to March.
You don’t have to pick one for the whole house. Plenty of homes get leaf protection on the sunny elevations and ArmourGuard Ice on the two or three problem runs where ice actually forms.
Both are professional-grade products designed for installation on existing gutters. We’ll walk the roofline with you, explain which option is best for each section, and take the necessary measurements to ensure a proper fit. We handle the installation and stand behind our work.
Estimates are always free — call (612) 219-5489 to get yours.

Gutter Leaf Protection Questions
Do I need to replace my gutters to install ArmourGuard leaf protection?
No — ArmourGuard installs directly onto your existing gutters, whether they’re K-style or half round, in aluminum, steel, or copper. The anodized aluminum frame is built to sit safely against any of those without a dissimilar metal reaction.
How is ArmourGuard different from mesh screens or foam inserts?
Screens and inserts sit loosely on top of the gutter, where debris can still wedge underneath or blow off. ArmourGuard is a sealed system with no holes, slots, or seams, set at the same pitch as your roof so leaves and needles slide off instead of collecting on top.
Should I get Leaf Protection or ArmourGuard Ice?
If mature trees are the issue, standard Leaf Protection is the fix. If you’ve dealt with ice dams, icicles, attic moisture, or a shaded roof section that never sees winter sun, ArmourGuard Ice adds low-level heat to keep meltwater moving instead of freezing at the edge. Plenty of Edina homes run both — leaf protection on the sunny sides, Ice on the runs where ice actually forms.
Can I get leaf protection on just part of my house?
Yes — you don’t have to treat the whole roofline the same way. It’s common to guard the sunny elevations with standard ArmourGuard and reserve Ice for the two or three problem runs where ice collects.
What does gutter leaf protection cost?
Pricing depends on linear footage and which configuration — standard or Ice — fits your roofline. We’ll walk the roof with you, measure what’s needed, and give you one flat number in writing before any work starts.
